Job Description

We are excited to announce a career opportunity for a part-time Dental Assistant at Mountlake Family Dentistry. Our dental practice is dedicated to providing top-notch dental care and ensuring that our patients receive the best treatment possible. This job is not a remote position, and candidates will be expected to work on-site at our welcoming and innovative clinic.

As a Dental Assistant with Mountlake Family Dentistry, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our dental office, assisting our dental professionals in delivering quality oral health care. This role is perfect for someone dedicated to patient care and interested in growing their career in the dental field.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
  • Set up and breakdown operatories.
  • Take digital dental radiographs (x-rays).
  • Manage infection control - prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
  • Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
  • Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
  • Scan impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth).
  • Perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer.
  • Communicate with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing and ordering supplies).
  • Help to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, and oral surgery.

Requirements

  • Completion of a dental assistant program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential, as recognized by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB).
  • Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
  • 2+ years of dental experience.
  • Knowledge of Dentrix is a plus.
  • Understanding of health & safety regulations and ability to ensure compliance.
  • Excellent manual dexterity skills for handling tools and instruments effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective communication with patients and team members.
  • Basic understanding of dental records and documentation ability to use dental software.
  • Ability to perform all tasks with attention to detail and proficiency.
  • Commitment to continuing education in order to maintain licensure and stay current with new treatments and technologies.
