The Bronx District Attorney is seeking an experienced attorney (3+ years) to handle post-conviction litigation, including direct appeals, motion responses, and federal writs of habeas corpus . Job Responsibilities Represent the People of the State of New York in appellate litigation on a wide range of constitutional and statutory law issues. Address complex legal issues clearly and effectively in oral and written format. Brief and argue a substantial caseload of appeals before the state and federal courts. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications A Juris Doctorate degree, 3+ years of appellate attorney experience or the equivalent. U.S. citizenship and New York State residency are required as of the first day of employment. Strong writing, research, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and effectively under deadlines. Ability to understand and respond clearly and effectively (oral/written) to complex legal issues. Ability to work nights, holidays, and weekends as needed. Excellent presentation and organizational skills. Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics. Ability to analyze and solve issues or problems from inception through conclusion.
